W.D. Lemon & Sons Funeral Home

Dana L. Lemon is President of W.D. Lemon & Sons Funeral Home, a family-owned business that spans three generations. Equipped with a degree in Psychology from Davidson College, she developed a successful career as a bank executive with Bank of America. At the request of her father, she joined the family business. Subsequently attending Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, she excelled as a mortuary science student, graduated with honors and received the Bill Pierce Award from her fellow classmates.

Dana is affiliated with the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association (NFDMA), the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association (GFSPA) and the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, among others. She made history in 2003 as the first woman to serve on the Georgia Department of Transportation Board. She’s also on the Clayton State University Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Dana’s business and civic engagement has yielded a number of awards, including being named Mortician of the Year for the 9th District of the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association. She is a graduate of Leadership Henry and Leadership Atlanta, has been recognized by the Georgia House of Representatives and was inducted the Atlanta Business League Business Hall of Fame. She also launched the Dana L. Lemon Foundation, which provides scholarships for life purpose experiences to middle and high school students in the Southern Crescent.

Dana is a member of the New Life Church in Decatur, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) and Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity (END). She is also an avid tennis player.
