Duckett Design Group

Karen I. Duckett is CEO of Duckett Design Group, one of Atlanta’s most estimable architecture, planning and interior design firms. Her team of 18 professionals and support staff is responsible for 3 million sq. ft. of executed projects totaling more than $1.8 billion in construction costs. Her business milestones have landed her in the pages of history. As the joint venture partner for the design of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, a 1.2 million sq. ft., $1.3 billion project, her commissioning was the largest awarded to an African American Female design firm in the world. She also worked as Planning Department Director for Flint, Michigan and Atlanta, Georgia. Her appointment in Michigan yielded the honor of being the first African American Female to hold a Planning Director position in a major city. Ms. Duckett also worked as Designer/Division Head for Xerox Corporation.

Ms. Duckett’s outstanding leadership has been acknowledged by the bestowing of many admirable awards, and she has matriculated Leadership Georgia as well as Leadership Atlanta. She is a founding member and President of the Coalition of 100 Black Women of Atlanta, and has been greatly involved in a plethora of other business organizations.

Ms. Duckett earned a Juris Doctor of Law degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law, a Masters in Urban Studies from Yale University/Occidental College and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Ohio University. Her registrations include Designer-Georgia, AIA- Associate, IBD, CCID and IIDA. She is married, the mother of three and the grandmother of one.
