For many years, the Atlanta Business League (ABL) has recognized business owners, professionals, community and civic leaders in metropolitan Atlanta. One example is the Atlanta Business League’s annual list of Atlanta’s 50 Influential Black Men who are recognized during an evening reception and induction ceremony.
This list reflects the names of black men in metro Atlanta communities who have reached senior levels within their profession, are leading entrepreneurs in their industry, have accomplished history-making feats or have achieved broad levels of influence in politics and government.In addition to their professional accomplishments, the “50 Men of Influence” have demonstrated their commitment to the citizens of metro Atlanta by maintaining significant involvement and participation in community and civic activities.
Our goal is to provide an opportunity for individuals at all levels, from middle school to corporate America, to meet and interact with men in leading and history making positions throughout metro Atlanta. It is a source of inspiration to see these living icons and to recognize the opportunities for greatness that are available for African-American men. The ABL believes that it is our responsibility to include this effort as part of the League’s information clearinghouse initiative.
The “Men of Influence Legacy Award” is presented posthumously to a Legend whose efforts, good deeds and impact will survive the test of time and will positively impact the community and the world for generations to come.
