Shawn brings a wealth of knowledge to her 30 years of experience leading global and national corporations in various industries and roles including Fortune 500 companies. She currently manages the operations, technology, and financials at RICE, the largest ecosystem in the nation dedicated to growing and scaling Black-owned businesses. In her previous role as the Chief Financial Officer for the National Black MBA Association, Inc., where she also served as the Interim CEO from 2022 – 2023, Shawn was instrumental in the historic signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Department of Commerce/Minority Business Development Agency with the intent to collaborate and develop creative and innovative approaches to foster growth and global competitiveness of MBE’s.
Born and raised in New York City, Shawn has a degree in accounting, later earned her CPA, and she has a Business & Executive Coaching Certification. She is a Fellow for the Georgia Society of CPAs and a member of the Association of International Certified Accountants. In 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, Shawn was recognized as one of the Atlanta Business League’s 100 Women of Influence, and in 2022 she received the League Leadership Award. In 2023, she was selected as an Honored Listee for inclusion in the esteemed Marquis Who’s Who in America.
Shawn has always been passionate about working with the systemically excluded. Her community commitments include currently serving as Board Treasurer for the Atlanta Business League, and member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter. In 2020, Shawn was appointed to serve a two-year term with the City of Atlanta Small Business Advisory Council and previously served as an Advisory Board member for Georgia Piedmont Technical College School of Business.
